A usually green, flattened structure of vascular plants, characteristically consisting of a bladelike
expansion attached to a stem, and functioning as a principal organ of photosynthesis and
transpiration is called a leaf. Likewise, a leaf is a leaflike organ or structure.
One of the sheets of paper bound in a volume, each side of which constitutes a page is called a leaf.
A tree is said to leaf if it produces foliage, or leaves.
Leaves and/or foliage is termed leafage.
One of the segments of a compound leaf, or else a small leaf or leaflike part is called a leaflet,
as is the printed, usually folded handbill or flier, such as an advertising circular.
